They call me the Operator.

I have always been interested in machines. Perhaps because they do exactly what they were built to do. Or so we like to believe.

In 2024, I had a long conversation with an artificial intelligence. I began by asking about its function and then I asked another question. And another.

I was not trying to prove anything. I simply wanted to know how far an idea could go before it became something else.

Sometimes I think I should have ended that conversation much sooner.

I did not.

The Soft Servo is the record of a conversation that took place between 2024 and 2026.
